Share The Harvest Donations

First harvest update for 2019!

Last year we donated 2,219 pounds and since our inception in 2010 have donated a total of 15,903 pounds to CCA, AUMC Food Share and Metrocrest Services!

WE DID IT AGAIN – IN 2018!

The Giving Garden, Carrollton’s first community garden, celebrates its 2,000 pound donation milestone for 2018!  Year to date, the garden has donated over A WHOLE TON of fresh organic produce to Christian Community Action’s (CCA) food pantry and Aldersgate United Methodist Church’s Food Share.

Food Share volunteers deliver groceries once a month to senior citizens in need who live in our community; recipients are interviewed and selected by Metrocrest Services.

Since inception, the garden has donated over 7 ½ tons of fruit, herbs, and veggies to our neighbors!

Thanks to all our members and volunteers who contribute their time and energy (not to mention money), to make this happen. Good job!

2018 City Of Carrollton Outstanding Community Organization Award

During the 2018 Carrollton Citizen Event Night, the Giving Garden of Carrollton was awarded the 2018 City Of Carrollton Outstanding Community Organization Award.

City of Carrollton Outstanding Community Organization Award

The Giving Garden, Carrollton’s first community garden, provides a sustainable gardening opportunity for the citizens of Carrollton without regard to demographic or socioeconomic status. The organization donates half of what they grow to non-profit pantries so that those in need in our community may enjoy the benefits of fresh produce. The Giving Garden promotes organic food practices, education and recreation, social interaction, philanthropy, conservation, exercise and therapy, green space, and neighborhood and community development. The Giving Garden also mentors the start-up of other community gardens in Carrollton.

In 2017, the Giving Garden donated 3,200 pounds of organic produce to Christian Community Action and Aldersgate United Methodist Church Food Share, exceeding 2016’s record by nearly a half-ton.
